Murray wins second Wimbledon Grand Slam

All the action at Wimbledon led up to the dramatic final between Andy Murray and Milos Raonic to determine who would take the Championship title.

You could feel the energy on Centre Court as The Brit No.1 soared to victory in three straight sets, this makes it Murray’s third win out of eleven Grand Slam final appearances, all of which have been against Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer.

Murray beat Tomas Berdych in the semi-final to make it to the final round of the tournament, he struggled against Raonic’s strong serve but came through to win the first set 6-4. However, the final two sets had everyone on the edge of their seats. In the second set Raonic forced a tie-break but Murray proved to be a force to be reckoned with and won the second set 7-6 (7-3. The pressure was on both players as they went into the third set, both played some of the best tennis of the tournament so far. Murray took the lead but Raonic’s resilience forced a second tie-break, another spectacular display from the Brit saw him win the third set 7-6 (7-2 and take the Wimbledon championship title in front of an elated crowd.

This is the second time Murray has won Wimbledon, his first victory in 2013, with less pressure on him this time he says that the latest victory is more enjoyable "Last time it was just pure relief, and I didn't really enjoy the moment as much, whereas I'm going to make sure I enjoy this one”.

Following the high of Wimbledon, the players will compete again in the US open at the end of the summer, and at the season-finale the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals later on this year.
