Ireland retain Six Nations title in nail-biting final day

Super Saturday in the Six Nations calendar never fails to impress and this year was certainly no different. Six teams battled it out but only one could claim that prestigious Six Nations title. We take a look at how it all played out.

Final weekend schedule:

Italy v Wales Stadio Olimpico 12:30pm K.O.
Scotland v Ireland Murrayfield  2:30pm K.O.
England v France Twickenham  5:00pm K.O.

First up was Italy v Wales at Stadio Olimpico where Wales dominated the second half in true style. VIP hospitality guests were treated to a fantastic match as Wales fought back against the Azzuri's first half lead, managing to secure a huge 40 point lead resulting in a fantastic 20 - 61 win for the Welsh. Wales were simply irresistible, with man-of-the-match Alun Wyn Jones inspiring a revitalised pack.

Following Wales' superb success, the Irish achieved victory when they came up against Scotland at Murrayfield. Hospitality guests inside Murrayfield enjoyed a sumptous pre-match meal before heading to their official match seats to witness a tremendous game of rugby. The reigning champions duly hammered Scotland by 30 points in Edinburgh, meaning Wales were out of contention and that England needed to beat France by 26 points to take the title.

It all came down to England v France at Twickenham to decide who would win the all-important Six Nations trophy. Pre-match saw thousands of Six Nations fanatics swarm Twickenham ready for what would be an amazing evening of rugby.

Hospitality guests inside the Orchard Enclosure at Twickenham heard an exclusive pre-match analysis from former England player Martin Bayfield. In addition, guests experienced the finest cuisine as part of their luxury four course pre-match meal along with drinks from the complimentary bar.

Soon enough it was time for the decider. England v France. The teams took to the pitch at Twickenham for an epic match which will go down in history as one that was close for England, but not close enough.

Despite England's courageous performance, it wasn't enough to take pride of place at the top of the Six Nations table. A huge 90 points were scored throughout the game with a total of seven tries from the home side.

"Credit to Ireland, they beat us away from home, so congratulations to Joe and his team," added Lancaster. "We're sat here disappointed but we've just put 55 points on France and scored seven tries in the process. I'm hugely proud of what that England team has shown today and throughout the Championship."
