Royal Ascot 2017 roundup

As Royal Ascot draws to a close for another year, we take a look back at some of the highlights from the prestigious horse racing event.

Of course, what makes this event so famous is the appearance by Her Majesty The Queen and other members of the Royal Family, and the opening day of the festival was no exception. Hospitality Finder guests could watch the royal procession whilst being treated to a champagne or Pimm’s reception. It was not long until the racing got underway and the event kicked off with the Queen Anne Stakes won by Ribchester. There was more Ascot success for American trainer Wesley Ward who won with Lady Aurelia in the King’s Stand Stakes. But all eyes were on the highly anticipated St James's Palace Stakes where Barney Roy and jockey James Doyle took the trophy.

It was another thrilling day of racing on the second day of Ascot as crowds gathered once more. This time the highlight race was the Prince of Wales’s Stakes, the most valuable race of the week with £750,000 in prize money available. Trainer A P O'Brien raced to victory here with horse Highland Reel and jockey R L Moore.

Ladies’ Day continued the festival on the Thursday and it did not disappoint, it was the chance for our hospitality guests to dress in their finest to celebrate the racing and there was an array of eye-catching and elegant outfits on display. Of course, the most celebrated race on this day is undoubtedly the Group 1 Gold Cup, famously won in 2013 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth with her horse Estimate. This year, however, it was the turn of Big Orange trained by Michael Bell, which saw them win by just a fraction in one of the most thrilling races of the week. Trainer Bell had this to say after the race "I can't give the horse enough credit. It was an epic race. I can't describe the feeling of pride in the horse. I was praying for the line. He's a superstar and we're extremely lucky to train him."

It was the turn of the Coronation Stakes and the Commonwealth Cup on Friday which saw a double victory for trainer Aidan O'Brien and jockey Ryan Moore. They won with horse Caravaggio in the Commonwealth Cup and with Winter in the Coronation Stakes, the race gave unbeaten Caravaggio the sixth win of his career.

On the last day of Royal ascot our guests took to the hospitality facilities for the final time, in prime position ready to watch the concluding races of the festival. Racegoers watched the Chesham Stakes, Wolferton Rated Stakes and the Hardwicke Stakes before the eagerly awaited main event: The Diamond Jubilee Stakes. It was success for trainer James Fanshawe and his horse The Tin Man who raced to victory. They were in safe hands which jockey Tom Queally who guided the iconic race horse Frankel on all fourteen of his wins.

See below what some of our hospitality guests thought of their day at the festival. Don’t wait to secure your place for Royal Ascot 2018.

“I took some clients to Royal Ascot on Friday, on one of the packages on offer- all had a great time, and we're already looking forward to next year. Highly recommended.”
Myke, Hospitality Finder guest

“Service was second to none! My entire group had such a great time and where looked after from the moment we arrived till the moment we left!!”
Rodney, Hospitality Finder guest

“We had a fantastic day at Ascot! The recommendation of booking the Village enclosure was spot on and exactly what we were after. We were looked after from start to finish and there was even a rep at the venue on the day in case of any issues. I would highly recommend booking with Hospitality Finder.”
Wendy, Hospitality Finder guest
